COVID-19 Response

ACJC Family,

As you know, our world is going through an unprecedented time of crisis and challenge. I realize that you and your family are experiencing many challenges right now, and this can be unnerving and causing anxiety in your hearts and minds. However, the Church of Jesus Christ has weathered many a storm since our Lord’s ascension and our God has spoken for such times as these. We stand firm on His promise that he will never leave us or forsake us. If the Gates of Hell can’t prevail against His Church, the Coronavirus won’t either.

How would Christ want us to respond to this pandemic? In Psalms 145 we see that God wants us to praise Him in our communication, meditation, proclamation, celebration, and even the lyrics of our “singsperation.” Even though the government has directed us to practice social distancing and suspend our church services in order to “flatten the curve” and halt the spread of this virus, we cannot allow ourselves as individuals, or the church, to cease our praise and worship. He will see us through and He remains worthy of our praise in spite of our circumstances. I want to assure you that we will be working on ways to remain connected as a church body. Just because we can’t assemble together for a short time doesn’t mean we can’t pray, and study God’s word collectively and simultaneously from our respective homes. We are exploring our options to “live stream” during worship times, do remote learning bible studies and possibly “drive-in” parking lot services. (More information to follow.)

Sixty-three times God’s Word says, “Fear Not.” Phil 4:6-7 says, “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.”

Please join me in praying for the rapid containment of this threating virus, which challenges the health and well-being of our world. And as God’s people, let us think from a biblical worldview and act in ways that bring witness to our great God who has shown us this better way, and given us abiding peace.

May the Lord keep you all safe and In Him!

Pastor Bell
